I had a pair of Ruby throated chicks in a nest at my house. They hatched June 9 (20 days ago) and today they were force fledged by an overly curious child who was investigating the nest. The pair flew out of the nest as if they'd been flying their entire lives. The mother returned several times to the nest, but the chicks haven't been seen since. I'm curious if the mother and chicks will be able to reconnect. It's my understanding that the mother needs to continue to feed the chicks for several days after they leave the nest and I'm worried that the sudden departure of the chicks from the nest means that they might be permanently separated from the mother. Is there anything that I can do besides continuing to keep the feeder full? Thanks!
