Leitz 8x40 Trinovid Binoculars (1 Viewer)

I have an old (and very good) pair of Leitz 8x40 Trinovid binoculars; only problem is the rubber eye-pieces are going home. Any ideas where I can get some replacement? Should I contact Leica?
Cheers
Paul

A close friend has the same bino's and is now onto his third set of rubber eyecups, Leica were the only suppliers he could find and they weren't cheap.

I replaced the eyecups on my 7 x 42 Trinovids twice. The last time they charged me $25.00, but they are screw on cups not rubber pull overs, and worth the price charged. Just call Leica. You can do it by credit card over the phone.

Thanks, £20-36 is well over the top

I don't know what that amounts to in US Currency, but it seems like too much money. These eyecups are obsolete and once present stock is gone will probably never be available again. There are also two colors: Black for the standard bins and green for the armored ones. You might want to consider that before you write them off on a pair of bins that you like so much. That's why I paid $25.00 for mine, albeit about 5 years ago. Maybe Leica USA sells them for less? Try contacting them. Independent Binocular Repair shops may also have them. For a while I was holding my old, torn eyecups together with Duct Tape.
It looked chintsy on their classic lines!
Good Luck,
Bob
