House Crow Chasing Away A Black Kite (1 Viewer)

This house crow is taking a peck at the black kite in flight to chase it away from its territory. Amazing that the black kites are scared of crows despite being much bigger!

We don't have Black Kites over here , but Red Kites are locally common. I can tell when they are overhead by the commotion the Crows and Magpies make.Funnily enough-they don't bother about the Buzzards at all! This behaviour appears to be general -I wonder if Kites are nest raiders? The locals certainly are more carrion than raptor in behaviour.

Dear Arthur. Thanks for your input. House crows certainly are territorial birds. In this case, a single crow chased away the kite. I don't know whether kites are nest raiders. I think they probably prefer to scavenge rather than undertake the adventure of raiding nests.
