Here is an interesting article about Meopta's production, history etc.

And another impressive review of the Meostar S2 82 HD spotting scope:

The writer does not seem to think that the ATX is worth the money…
maybe he is just poor and grumpy but he actually has some valid points...
o:D

Both of these seem to be the same link to the Meopta website. Am I missing something?

Thanks Henry and Vesp. Interesting comparisons.

The discussion about air travel options in respect of these full size scopes will likely be academic for many (myself included) with the availability of high quality travel scopes (I have a Nikon ED50A which does very nicely) and CF tripods.

another review of the S2 with test photos through the scope:

Google translated from Italian:

"Conclusion

With just over € 2,200 the Digiscoper like birdwatchers have the ability to leverage a perspective of great value from the quality amazing. This is a perfect tool for that impassioned of photography you want to enter the world of digiscoping without compromise. A telescope that offers bright, sharp images with excellent resolution even at high magnifications.

Pros
· Excellent image quality - color, brightness and definition.
· Excellent construction - Lightweight, waterproof, precise mechanics.
· Ocular great quality - Powerful and very correct.
· Good focus - mechanical hard but without play.
· Very good performance / price
· 30-year guarantee of the house.

Cons

· Sideburn small.
· Ocular diameter too small (for the current adapter)."
