Canon 100-400 Mk11 replacement lens foot (1 Viewer)

Has anyone replaced their foot with one that you can actually get your fingers around to use as a carry handle? The gap between barrel and foot on the Canon provided one is too narrow.
Alternatives requested!
Thanks in anticipation.

Damn it, wrong section!!!!!! Treat it as a "Wanted" item.

You have succumbed? I always carry mine attached with the Rapid start Dave. Tad heavy but no problem. There again I can't go too far.

No Phil I haven't ....yet ! I'm asking on behalf of a friend.I'm very tempted though as I hear good reports.

You will hear them from me too - I am liking mine!
I haven't replaced the foot on mine but I agree there is very little clearance for fingers if you want to carry it by the foot.
I use a Canon E1 hand/wrist strap on the camera and just let the whole lot dangle - works fine. If I am walking longer distances I have a shoulder strap (from an old backpack) that I have attached an Arca clamp to and attach this to the foot for longer distance carrying.

Hejnar or RRS

(Late reply so maybe only useful for future readers:)

I have the Kirk foot on my 100-400II and can say that it has the same overall height than the original Canon screw foot *with* an Arca plate attached so the clearance is better obviously. For me it works albeit it's a tight fit. But the replacement foots made by Hejnar (H116) and Really Right Stuff (LCF-54) are definitely higher that the Kirk foot and will provide more space for your fingers:
