Just really getting into birds , thinking skua on this one but not sure which one. taken near Barmouth in Wales last month

Definitely a Skua, and I would say a rather nice adult dark phase Arctic.

thanks both for a very prompt reply, the bird actually landed on the beach but unfortunately i wasn't quick enough with the camera, thanks again, I have more that I'm unsure of.

Its a lot easier in the air anyway - unless you can see the upper and undertail coverts, the bill pattern and the tail shape well on the water

Thanks again Jane. I've posted some more phots on bird of prey forum , if I can be cheeky could you see what they are , thanks
