Listening to the tape I was struck by his desire to be able to draw/paint birds in any position, not just the one that might be shown in a photo. That's something I can't foresee myself ever accomplishing, much as I'd like to. It seems to me like one of the hardest things to do, only accomplished by having a full, mental understanding of the bird.
