Did not stay long enough to see what happened. Assume it is related to nest building and not pairing?
Today in Boyton Beach, Florida wetlands

Sunbathing, here specifically to get sunlight on the undersides of the wings - helps keep the flight feathers into good condition :t:

It was definitely continually calling. Is that typical of the behavior you are referring to? Have never noticed that with other birds that are sunbathing such as cormorants and anhingas.

Did some more research and it was "Gular Fluttering" to get rid of excess heat and not calling.
