I was taking a shot inside a bird hole in a tree and as I was about to take the shot this Dragonfly landed just inside my frame. Not wanting to lose this chance I took this shot of the Dragonfly. I had to be quick so It's not the greatest shot. The second I took the shot it was gone. I know nothing about them. Could someone please let me know what I'm looking at??

It is a female of one of the Mosaic Darners (genus Aeshna; Darners have their own family, Aeshnidae). Possibly Canada Darner, but there are some very similar species. I'm from the eastern U.S., so that's as far as I'm going to venture with a western dragonfly.
