Seasonal Nature Photos (1 Viewer)

Kits

Picture Picker
As Autumn is here, I thought it would be nice to have a thread where we could share seasonal pics, and it can progress through the year to Winter, Spring and Summer. It should be interesting to see how the seasons are in different parts of the country/world.

Here are some Autumn pics to start us off.

Nice ones, Kits.

I'll add these for starters.

The complete tree, the leaves and the close up of the leaves are from a Sargent's Cherry which is a Japanese native, often used here to mark boundaries and for it's colour.

Good idea Kits and glorious Autumnal images from you and Wendy.

(As I was loading the pics, I heard a Goldcrest outside. Ive not known it to visit this tree before or arrive this late in the day. Fab!! I'm off to find him. Maybe I will get a Goldcrest at Dusk pic!)

Love the middle one, Kits, the shades are really varied in that one.

And some rose hiips from me......shame that it is such a performance to make rose hip syrup, there are so many around this year, unlike sloes which (around here) are virtually non existent.

Oh what lovely fat hips, Wendy. We noticed that there are plenty of hips here too.

Anyone any idea why they are called hips?

No idea, Kits, but I shall do my best to find out....I may be some time!!!.....

Seems that it may be a corruption of the OE word HEOPE which was used for the fruit of the rose....unless anyone knows any different!!!

Didn't take that long after all did it?!

Super Autumn colours in your photo's Kits. Is that a Castle I can see in the 5th one? It looks an interesting building.
Wendy, the reds on those hips are beautiful. I never know the difference between hips & haws.

Found in the garden this morning ...

Lots of fungi in your garden, Kits. Cobweb is a nice photo too.
Here are some blackberry leaves in our garden & a plant from the garden where I work, it is a wild one, they grow under the Beech trees there, but I can't remember what they are called. Someone, please?

That's a monster cobweb, Kits! I wonder if it was just one spider's efforts?

That looks almost like cyclamen, Val.....but then again I'm not good on things like that!

I shall have some pics for here later. Went for a lovely walk this pm and will download the photos later.
