There are no Mantis species at large in the UK to my knowledge?

Cannot see it as a UK species anywhere, but its a common pet, so may be an escape or release.
Oddly the praying mantis is the 'state insect' for Connecticut even though it is not a native species, the wonder of search engines, eh?

Not the greatest photos but it looks a bit like an Empusa sp. I guess it's possible one has arrived with imported plants?
