i had a spare hour today so i went a wee trip too Birnie Loch , weather was good for around 30 mins so i snapped a few pictures off a mute swan,

here are a few different views.



i also managed to get a 3 new species for my evergrowing newbi list :t:

gossander ( i think )
siskin ( i think )
skylark.

as i wandered around Birnie and Gaddon loch's , i noticed birds similar to what you mention flying away from edges , so they were possibly water rail.

very hard too spot and take a picture off tho, i didnt see them until they flew off .. lol. i'm bad enough trying too take a picture off something static. :-O

Get there in the spring and listen out for the differance between Garden warbler and Blackcap and look out for Red Squirrels in the pines around that area. There are some good places round there.

I like the close up facial of the mute swan. I have never been so lucky.

Have you put these on the Gallery for others to view? They are too good to leave only on this thread.
