Chimney Swifts Left... :-/ (1 Viewer)

Hi.

Normally I post at the ex Beebs...

Fit the last 10 yrs plus we have been blessed with Chimney Swifts in ins or both chimneys.
Often we have caught, kissed. then released either a parent or young one. (lots of posts at the ex beebs.... )

This year we had the Swifts move in but soon they left. No twittering. Soooo sad. No changes to the house. A huge weeoing willow was downed by H. Sandy but nothing else changed with the property. We are on the shores if Lake Erie and have had less than usual midges ( muffleheads) and mayflies.

Any reason why the Swifts left?!?!?

So sad.... We always looked forward to having them here. *sigh*

Last year many of the swifts in my apartment complex (they nest in faux chimneys) left due to a Red Tailed Hawk. I caught the hawk looking in the chimneys on two different days. This year the Swifts are back and it's a delight to see them when arriving home after work each day :)
