We have a pair of Carolina Wrens that have found their way inside our pool screen and have made a nest in an empty planter. The brood hatched yesterday. Question - the hole they come in through (over 7 ft high and very small) probably cannot be used for the hatchlings when they fledge. Also, BIG problem: we have a pool! We can leave the 2 screen doors open when we believe the hatchlings will fledge but what steps can we take to keep them from drowning in the pool as they will most likely "wander" before finding their way out?

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

When they do fledge, they will follow one of the parents and chances are the parents are well aware of the pool. Please do not go anywhere near the nest if it is possible because disturbance can cause the parents to leave the nest for good.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Agree with what KC said. Best to stay as far away as you can.
