Wagtails. Gir, India (1 Viewer)

satyachil

Tally ho!
I am having some trouble in distinguishing between Yellow and Grey Wagtails. These are all different individuals.
Any help in id'ing will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Archerboy and Drwatson. Regarding the first photo, given the large amount of yellow on the underparts, can you pls help me with how you ruled out yellow wagtail?

Grey mantle, contrasting with black folded wing, and very long tail are all good pointers toward Grey over Yellow - some of the eastern races (and indeed eastern yellow wagtail) can show a grey mantle, but the wings aren't usually as contrasting, and the wing bars are more obvious on Yellow. Hope this helps

very helpful. Many thanks.

Just to add, Grey Wagtail has shorter legs and much longer tail. Not always obvious but sometimes helpful...

After taking another look at my photos came across this individual. I am hazarding a Yellow wagtail here but not sure which sub-species.
Are these photos good enough to identify positively?
