took these two pics mid march north of rekyavik the bird flew across as i was driving so couldn't get a good look, i managed to stop and picked it up along way off, apologies for the quality turned out my lens was packing up, can anyone make out from these very poor images if its gyr or peregrine personally i thing the latter, cheers.

can Arctic Skua be ruled out here? They are far more likely on Iceland

I do not even feel confident about the id as a falcon from these images ....

if the question is Peregrine or Gyr, the answer is that Gyr looks to be the better option on overall colour
if the question is what is this, than honnestly it can be a lot of things
 
The OP poster is asking whether it is a Peregrine or a Gyr.
He saw it with his naked eye himself - he saw it better than what we see in the photo, and has been able to ascertain that it is a falcon, as stated in his post. He is merely asking us if we can advise which one.

the bird in question came across in front of the car as i was driving it was certainly a falcon i would have known it for a skua but the bird was flying directly in front of me facing away before heading away when i could stop i found it with my bins quite distant on the rock in the picture but not only was distance against me but as it transpired my lens was on its way out as well hence the dire pics, cheers for the help.
