Awesome closeup photo of "baby" Chickadee (1 Viewer)

Adorable! I love the fuzzy feathers that stick out when they're that small. How did you get such a great closeup?

That was a great close-up of the "baby" chickadee, wasn't it?
Glad you liked it!

We had a nestbox camera in the birdhouse and had been watching the Carolina Chickadee family from the time the parents started building the nest to the time of fledging - over the period Mar 22nd thru May 5th.

There were a few somber moments as we lost 4 or the 6 chicks to unknown reasons.

When this chick left the birdbox, she only made a short flight before landing on the lawn. We gently assisted her to get to the safety of the woods nearby. This also gave us the opportunity to get this awesome closeup.

They also do a cute, maybe, wing flutter when they beg. Of course for the parent, the cuteness disappears after the 1000th time.
