Nile Valley Sunbird (1 Viewer)

Dear members and bird watchers!

Ethiopia end of October 2019 - Nile Valley Sunbird, the only sunbird I know with a short bill together with the Pygme. I identified the attached birds as Nile Valley

Picture #1 a female

Picture #2 as an eclipse male

But I am discovering that the bill is yellow/ orange at the base. In my book the bills are all black. I look around on internet and I see a picture of an eclipse male on eBird

And it looks like the bird have a slightly yellowish coloured bill

Anyone know if the two birds are Nile Valley?

i think you are right they are female and an eclipse male as they look like Prince Tariq and princess Dina in my garden :-O.

if you have a picture of the female bill it would make me 100% sure, but if they are near to each other it logical to think that she is his girl.

i have uploaded a picture of Tariq last week.

Yes, I think the first one is a female. This was the only picture I managed to get before the bird took off
