Cardinal looks like collapsing (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

A cardinal was seen resting by my kitchen window yesterday. While I was excited to see him, the way he rested looked like he was collapsing and needing a break. He was laying on his side with the head against the brick wall. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I uploaded the photo (I hope successfully) here. Thank you!

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

Hopefully in this case, we're looking at a tired dad and mom is probably in a nest with eggs or chicks and he's just keeping an eye on them from his resting spot. Please let us know if you see him again.

Thank you so much, KC, for your reply and the warm welcome. I have signed up for this forum just to post this question since I have been quite concerned. The cardinal was again by my window at the same spot with a similar leaning against the bricks posture. This time he even turned his head to look at us (for a solid few seconds for a few times). I thought Cardinals are skittish in general. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
