Hello Everyone,

I just got some Tecnar by Swift 10x50 binoculars at an auction. They seem in very good condition and I was wondering how old they were?
Sorry if it is obvious but I am a noob to binoculars, the seriel number that is on them is 5026.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi trancework,

Your 10x50 "TecnaR" binoculars were marketed by Pyser-Britex (Swift) Ltd., who were the sole U.K. agents for Swift Instruments Inc. in the mid-1960s. They were an economy range, Zeiss style, center focus instrument that originally came with a black pigskin case. In all, there were eight different TecnaR models, the largest being a 20x50.

Enjoy your find. And welcome to Birdforum.
