Wood carving (1 Viewer)

Thanks guys.

My photography at fault I'm afraid Mark. Dark was my trademark. I have a friend with a studio. I'm in the process of designing a website and he's agreed to do the pics.

These images are around 275KB. Thought there was a 300KB limit on JPegs. Here's a couple more. Again painted from a selection of my own photos.

Some initial attempts at field sketching

A few initial field sketches. I have come to two conclusions - birds are great to watch and draw and, most astute of all, they never, ever keep still (or so it seems);). Started drawing with bic biros (the shelduck and BH gull) but decided to go with pencil (goldfinch); although it introduces the temptation to erase, it doesn't define the edges where light meets bird, which is what I really love about wildlife watercolours. Started using heavy cartridge paper but have just discovered Moleskine watercolour notebooks. These are beautifully made with a cold pressed watercolour paper that accepts graduating washes and pencil shading. They open up flat and will accept paint on both sides. The goldfinch is on the back of the paper.

All very nice and indicate great things in the future. I personally prefer the first two but that's largely just me. They all look quite good.

Couple of field sketches.

A couple more field sketches - common gulls in watercolour.
