We are staying near Katerini south west of Thessalonika in May. The Axios Loudias reserve looks to be nearby.
Has anyone been there? What is the best access point and nearest town? Do any buses pass by?
There is a large saltpans area just north of Katerini. Has anyone been there? How do you access them?
Thanks.

Angelohori Lagoon near the airport is worth a look went there in 95 when on holiday in August going again this year had the following amongst many others.
White Pelican,Greater Flamingo,Collared Pratincole,Black-necked Grebe,Terek Sandpiper,Syrian Woodpecker,Tawny Pipit, Slender-billed Gull.If you are hiring a car Lake Kerkini is more than doable in a day it's an amazing place even in August will be even better in May.

Head for the airport and drive straight past till you can't go any further the lagoon is on your right should be easy to find you can see it from the plane when you come in to land.
