I know it is not a good pic but this bird is baffling me. Taken in Vale do Bispo, Algarve. I am thinking Woodchat Shrike or Pied Flycatcher. Any help in ID would be most appreciated.

Hi Pam,
I would suggest that this is a male Stonechat: the black throat contrasting with a paler breast wouldn't suit Pied Flycatcher or Woodchat Shrike, and the structure also looks better for a chat.

I could see this as a stonechat, the shape and stance fits well, though it's no more than a reasoned guess.

Thanks Harry and Nick for your help.

It's no big deal but a Woodchat Shrike would have been a good one for me.lol!!!

Your help is very much appreciated!:t:
