Western Tanager

Hello all. This is my first post on this forum. My name is Brian. My favorite bird is the Western Tanager so I chose that as my forum name.
My wife and I live is SW Michigan. We have been here 2 years, having moved from SE WA State (Walla Walla).
We have obviously gone birding here in Michigan as well as back in Washington but also in Ecuador and Honduras. We went to Ecuador in April of 2016 to visit my parents who retired and moved down there also from Washington State about 5 years ago. We went to the Mindo area for birding. I will be birding different spots near Mindo again in mid November. While down there I also plan to visit a winery near Playas to the SW of Guayaquil. Hoping to see some birds in that area too and hopefully break the 500 count on my life list.
In Honduras we went to Lake Yojoa and spent a week at D and D Brewery. They have food, lodging, beer and a guide for the birding. We had a great time.
We plan to go to the Dominican Republic in March and will do some birding on our own as well as some scuba diving and a couple tours.
Anyway I look forward to contributing to and learning from this community of fellow birders.
