Two shots from last weekend:

The beeeater is with the scope alone close to F/8, at 1/1000, ISO400. Right after sunrise.
The stork had the 2X TC, ISO400, 1/400 about half an hour later.

Took all of these using the front cover on the SW80ED stopping it down from 80mm to 50mm or F/12. Range for all of them was around 4m (13 feet). Robin only cropped very little and the drone flies are cropped a fair bit. I had 120mm of extension in the rear of the focuser to allow focusing down to around 3m.

Drone flies were all 1/640sec ISO800 and Robin 1/500sec ISO800.

Third one is nice with the curled up wing tips.

I found a gallery on a forum a few days ago where someone was using the same scope as yours for aircraft photography. Can't remember where it was now though.

Took this last night about 20 minutes after full sunset. Quite low light levels but still managed 1/125sec at ISO800.

3 butterfly images from today. All taken from around 2.5m (8 feet) with about 180mm of extension in the rear of the focuser. Also used the front lens cover to stop down the SW80ED to 50mm aperture.

1/250sec, 1/320sec and 1/400sec in that order. All are ISO800 and all are cropped about 40%

Last image is 100% crop from 2nd photo.

Your shots are so fantastic. Even your BG are so consistent that they look like studio set up. :t:

Thanks Alphan. They're not setups but I do chose my locations very carefully, the background being the first factor of choice, with the light angle in mind too of course.

BTW I made a mistake with the EXIF in the the last, it's wide open at F/6 @ 1/4000, and forgot to add that these shots were all without TC, with the fist four having the iris stopped down one stop.

A few from yesterday. Scope stopped down to 30mm for the Damselfly and taken from around 2m (6 feet). ISO800 1/250sec. Aircraft was stopped down to 50mm 1/1250sec at ISO800. I find stopping down where there is mostly sky I get better contrast and saturation.

Paul.

An attempt at some long distance and BIF shots. Not too bad really considering my talent level, and just a monopod, which was more difficult to keep steady at these distances than i imagined.

Mixture of Av Priority and Full Manual

1) Heron and Cormorants nesting together

525 meters - 900mm ( Prinzflex TN ) ISO 200 - 1/125th

2) 3 Cormorants

3) Pair of Oystercatchers

87 meters - 900mm ( Prinzflex TN ) ISO 200 - 1/1000th

4) Mallard mum with chick

Last week I had to go to Doñana and I stopped in the Algarve (South of Portugal) to take some photos of ducks not so common up where I live and work. Some went directly to fotos of pt-ducks...:king:

525 meters? Here, I can hardly distinguish between bird and BG at that distance.
