Undoubtedly, those are very fine instruments. But from what I have read, they're a knock-off rather than the very same scope.
One could expect glass quality to differ, QC and second-hand value should be worse. And are the Nikon ED82s really made in PRC?
A new ED82A body will be my next purchase and I can find them at £900, so I wouldn't take the chance with a knock-off.
But I'd be interested to try an Avian ED50A for spare, if they would make one in the future.

The Bosma scope is a good copy of the Nikon ED 82 A, but not quite its equal. The ED glass used in the Nikon is different, and consequently color correction of the Bosma, while good, is not as good. Likewise, anti-reflection coatings are better in the Nikon, as are internal bafflings. Thus with otherwise equally lucky samples of each (meaning equal optical aberrations), the authentic Nikon will have better contrast, more pure and vivid colors, better brightness and less stray light artefacts. But the differences are not huge. I have seen samples of the Bosma that take 75x magnification very well.

I contacted two "well known" Nikon dealers today, both reported the Nikon ED 82A currently out of stock.
Is there a shortage or do dealers only order them in on request.
