Help !

My 'pod blew over today, and the zoom lens took the brunt of the impact. The eyepiece part which pulls out is now jammed and the zoom mechanism is jammed also. The lens is perfect luckily, as is the scope ( in skua case ).

I think it is repairable so can anyone recommend a good optical engineer specialist here in the uK ? I dont want to send it back to Leica if possible as I would like to use it again some time this year 3:)

Thanks in advance,

I recently sent a 20-60x eyepiece back to Leica for a customer, the turn around was about 3 weeks. This is not an unusal turn around time.
The delay comes when you take time to reply to estimates.
Try Leica, I'm sure you'll be surprised at the speedy turnaround.

Leica service is sloooooooow. I've just received my 20-60x zoom back which has languished with Leica for over two months. The zoom ring had got a bit tight and apparently needed sending back to the factory in Germany for a bit of regreasing! However, the packaging was wonderful. My lens came back in a box a foot square filled with soft bits. How thoughtful!!!(I sent it to them in a jiffy bag)

Thanks for your comments Duncan and Den. I actually fixed it myself - it needed pushing out instead of in if that makes sense ! Gee maybe Leica stuff is as "robust" as they claim after all ??? Seems to work just fine. Would probably have tried Kay Optical as it seems they are reputable.

I have found their ( Leica ) service terrible in the past - two replacement objective lenses ( both with scratches ) and two brand new replacement Apo 62 scopes that were also faulty. All in all this took nearly 6 months without the use of the scope. Terrible...

Best wishes,

Linz
