We approached a group of Canada Geese today (at the Cotswold Water Park, not quite in Gloucestershire, just over the border). There were 4 pairs with young and two other pairs.
They took evasive action and walked down to the lake to swim away.
They swum off with their necks in this peculiar posture which I've never seen before. Is it well-known and, if so, what's it for? Is it just to improve aerodynamics and speed?
