After seeing Mikes video, I thought I would share my video of a very obliging
Bittern.
The bird was filmed alongside the river Teme on the Worcester/Shropshire border.
The film was taken using my Nikon ED82 fieldscope combined with a Panasonic TM300 Camcorder - shame the birds legs are slightly out of focus at the end of the film.

Excellent stuff, Phil! In over forty years birdwatching I have never been lucky enough to see one of these amazing birds feeding so openly. Well captured.

Congratulations Philip,

Clear and nice capture! In Turkey these birds are a bit shy due to hunting pressure over the other waterbirds. I wonder if you'd heard any call of this bird? As far as I know, it is so strong that it can be heart from 5 km away. Years ago one of my friend was taking this bird's picrure and the bird attacks to him and shout. He dropped his camera and run away. We loughed to this funny story for years.
