Unsupported file format (1 Viewer)

Di Stone

Well-known member
Can anyone explain why or what causes the term "unsupported file format" on some photos but not others to happen. I've now experienced this on several jpegs pictures but thought I'd been using the same process when working with them.

Many thanks

Di

SOunds like it might be a filename "extension" problem.

Is the filename extension still ".jpg"? If not, that might cause the problem, and can be fixed by renaming it back to ".jpg".

Another cause might be modifying an image in an editor, then saving it to a format other than jpg, but typing ".jpg" manually in the save dialog (resulting in a file that isn't really a jpg but has the extension .jpg).

You are certainly not the only person to have this problem Di. There does seem no reason for this to happen with some photos and not others but let's hope the experts can shed some light. Roger
