... where is worth going to locally (within perhaps a 30 mile radius) for birding or other wildlife?

I may be down that way for work next week, but I might have large amounts of time on my side, when I'm not actually working. Hence, I'd like to take a look around the area, if it's worth it?

I'm a member of the RSPB and Wildlife Trust, so such reserves would be good. Ideally postcodes of spots would be great, as finding nature reserves is usually harder than finding wildlife on them!

Cheers!

Hi Pete

Gatwick is on the border of Kent, Surrey and Sussex with some good birding nearby.

Have a look in Opus and you'll find quite a few sites Bough Beech (Kent) is one that springs to mind - a great site.
