Insect ID please. UK (1 Viewer)

I have tried to ID this insect which I sighted late May, I have only come up with it being maybe a Sawfly or Ichneumon.

Help with species ID will be appreciated.

The name certainly fits the insect with it's long neck and flathead! It was found in a wooded area of a common by a small pool.
