Just got back from the canterbury fayre festival. not thinking i would be doing much birding, so did not bring any optics.....typical!! a kite sp. circled over the campsite for 20 mins on saturday morning. i could only see it with my naked eye, and it was mostly quite distant, but i could make out a slightly forked tail. it was in scruffy (juvenile?) plumage. If I had been in Wales it would have been 'red', if i was in Goa it would have been 'black'. I was in Kent so who knows?......probably a lost 'red' but i can dream.......B :)

Red kite sightings in East Kent are not that uncommon. The last I know of was at Sandwich about a week ago.
