Thanks to REGOR for the I.D. as a male Silver-washed Fritillary.

Is this a good'un for Here.

Keith :t:

EDIT....forgot to say that on saturday I saw a BAT whirring around the right side of the pond from the hide...at MIDDAY....quite large as i thought it was a Swallow at 1st.
Even with my eyesight I could see the shape of the wings with the "fingers" showing.....anyone any ideas....thanks

Had a male and 2 juve Kings at the hide last weekend but they appear to have moved on since.....the Male used to fly in with a fish and the young would come out of hiding to his calls and then the male would show one the fish and then fly off with them in pursuit.Think this is a training exercise to tell them "this is a fish...go catch"...one would have a few dives but the other seemed a bit lazy.
All through the week and yesterday no more sightings and the place was back to normal...QUIET.

That aside the Dragons have been out and about when the sun decided to show.Got too hot for me on Friday and I had to retire to the hide to cool off....new it would come in handy some day....lol.

Hi Keith - good to see you got a shot of 3 kingfishers. A guy at Rye Meads got three as well, on a stick. I saw 3 at Brandon Marsh but they did not come together. A guy at Brandon Marsh saw a 5 kingfisher fly past. Found the kingfisher on the Rea in Birmingham again but have not seen the one at Woodgate return though it has been reported.

Good to know that they are fighting back after the bad weather over the last few years......I too had 3 on a stick but it was just as I arrived and the camera was not set up .....I tried but could not steady things while trying to hold the tripod at a height through the slat in the hide.

Great shots Keith!! Wonder where they went? I found a kingfisher checking out the pond at work. Guess they look for the easiest food source.

Some more images from last week......

Plenty of work down on the Moor.....both on the walking areas and gates as well as the areas around the pool.
There is now a "beach " on two edges by the hide and I was hoping for all sorts come down and use them but only got a Robin and a Wren.....mind you the gale force winds were against it.
About 13 canada Geese and a few Moorhens braved the conditions though.
Wish I had called in on Sunday as all the work would have looked even better in the sun.
Keith

WEnt to see if any Sedge Warblers around the reeds by the old hide ...did see a lot of brown jobs (no bins) I did not connect with any Sedges.
carried on along the public path parallel with the bridlepath and it was teaming with life...Small Whites ,Orange tips, Brimstone ,Speckled wood,Peacock.....Beautiful Demoiselles and a surprise Muntjac in the wood beside the path.
As I left the wood there was a Stag Roe in the field.
Around the Dragon pond had Small Blue Damsels (no I.D.) a few Large Reds and 4 Spot and Female Broad Bodied Chasers.

Quiet at Feckenham today......A Baby Magpie looking lost on the roadway from car park....also Bullfinch,Song Thrush,Crows a few Tits.
Even quieter around the pool....so walked (waded) around to the Dragon pool and nothing there also......no sun being the problem.
Red Bunting in the field along the path back to the small hide - at least had a few Speckled Wood.a female Red Damsel and Beautiful Demoiselle.
Could hear Cuckoo to the left and right while in the hide and saw a few what think were Reed Warblers (no bins).
A Hornet flew in and out in seconds by the pond.

THe Ragged Robin was looking good by the sodden track to the dragon pool and some thistles are coming out.
