Hi All,
Please excuse my ignorance but I have a Cuckoo in my garden and I'm not sure what to do? as in i think it shouldn't be here yet? I'm thinking it got blown up with storm Emma? It looks so lost Please advise!! Thanks

Hi jleebrook and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

Cuckoos really shouldn't be here yet, if one is in your garden (which would be unusual habitat), there is really nothing you can do about it.

Can you get a picture, so we can check your ID of it. If you need help uploading the image, please let us know.

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy your time here with us.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry I can’t help with the bird.

Welcome to the Forum - we hope you enjoy your time here. I agree with Delia that it's extremely unlikely a Cuckoo would be here at this time of year. They're probably all in Africa in still (hard to blame them at the moment). I wonder if your bird might be a Fieldfare. They're quite grey coloured like a Cuckoo and there are lots of them coming into gardens because of the cold weather.

I did wonder about Fieldfare, as Andrew suggested.

You can see more pictures of them here, and more if you scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link to view more pictures.

They're beautiful winter visitors to our country.
