'New' eyepieces for Kowa 820 series (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I have the Kowa 823 with, amongst other eyepieces, the original 32x one. I've only just found out that a new version 32x came out last year. What I would like to know is: has anyone had experience of both, and, if so, is the new one significantly better? I realise it's got a twist-up eyecup and longer eye-relief(?) but would you say it's optically improved as well?

Thanks,

David

David,
I have the old 27x LER and the new 25x LER and I've used the new 32x and zoom and they are much better than the old ones. You'll be impressed. Neil.

Cheers Neil, and thanks for the info and opinions you've given on other threads on this forum too. Much appreciated.

i bought a secondhand kowa in autumn, erm 822m i think it is. has 32xwa lense.

THis scope and lense are 8+ years old, would it be worth getiting a new eyepiece?

Each generation of eyepieces is an improvement over the previous one. I have the original 27x LER for my 821M and then I upgraded to the newer 27x LER which was an improvement. I mostly used it on my Swaro scope though as the mounts are similar. Now I have the 25x LER ( replaced the 27x ) for the 88 mm scopes and it's better again. Unfortunately they've changed the mount as it's a much bigger eyepiece so it will need to be modified to use it. I would say that you see more difference changing eyepieces than changing scopes but I haven't done any scientific testing on this.
Neil.
