Morning folks, thats me back working again, been here 4 days, and all I've seen is two juv YL Gulls, water depth is 1640m. No fish seen either. Looks like this could be a poor trip. Weather steady on 10kts from the West, fingers crossed for some Easterlies.

How is great reed warbler being ruled out? The apprent paleness of the underparts, long bill, and well marked tertials fit better for this - and it was a 'big warbler'.

Here's another couple for you.
Steel decks for a habitat, lol

Many Thanks to you both for sorting that id for me.
No real news otherwise, it does appear that we are getting daily arrivals and departures of Hoopoe though.

The ID is sorted, but thanks to Mark (not Paul as I mistakenly wrote in a hurry) more than me.

Hoopoes are on the move here in the Algarve too, as well as a few warbler species.

Here we go again, step height is 45mm , dark legs, very feint eye stripe, throat and chest same colour, slightly darker under tail coverts, never saw or got photo of primaries. Answers on a postcard to......

Morning Folks, an update for you, work does get in the way, occasionally, bird's been arriving in very small numbers, had a Bittern, circle us twice, then continued South, on the 20th, following day a ring tail Harrier, circled us a few times, then continued, flight pattern suggested Montagues, yesterday a Spotted Flycatcher was a nice surprise.
We should be moving further inshore over the next few days, current position, 32.9N, 033.6E.

Had a Squacco Heron, on the 25th, this morning was delighted to see a Nightjar. We seem to have a bit of an arrival overnight, no real change in our weather, still light Westerlys, and very calm seas. Usual warblers and wagtails dotted around the vessel.

Unbelievable, well chuffed, its trying to roost just outside the bridge, we have the sun blinds down, so it cannot see us🙂
