Help needed - Bird's Nest Orchid and Yellow Bird's Nest (1 Viewer)

Hi all

Sorry to ask for more help - the NHM Orchid project is underway already, but the Ghost Orchid Project is looking for help too, separate to, but alongside that.

We are trying to establish if there is a correlation between numbers of flowering BNO and YBN, and those of Ghosts.

Clearly this is especially difficult here in the UK, because we don't have many Ghosts, but what we want to do is to get people to record the number of flowering spikes of both the above species, AT ALL SITES, this spring.

So, if you visit a site that has either, or both, please count them and put a post on here with the following information:

1. Site name (as general as you like if sensitive)
2. Number of spikes flowering, including how many you expect to flower (so if there are 20 in flower, but 6 in bud, put 26)
3. If you know the site from previous years, whether this is higher or lower than average, based on your knowledge
4. Date, of course.

You can instead email your records via the GOP website:

www.ghostorchidproject.co.uk

Thanks everyone for your help.

We want to build this data, even if no Ghosts are found, so we have an historical dataset for the sites in question, as it may prove useful later on: a site with low numbers this year, but bigger numbers and a Ghost in two years, is useful information!
