Headphones not cutting out speakers on my PC (1 Viewer)

When I plug my headphones into the socket on my PC they are not muting the speakers. I've tried the headphones on my laptop & they work fine

Any ideas please

It's a hardware thing inside the computers. If the headphone socket isn't wired up to defeat the external speakers when something is pluged in then it won't.

Sorry
