Optical manufacturers and hunting

A report by ethical consumer has found that of 30 optical manufacturing companies surveyed, only five did not promote hunting or have links to hunting. Hats off to Opticron who is one of the ethically responsible five. A good reason to buy Opticron.

Opticron is a brand label, not a manufacturer. For anyone who cares about this, I'm sure that the makers of Opticron bins also make bins for hunting oriented brands.

True - but at least Opticron equipment isn't peddled to trophy hunters....

Interesting but saddening report - thanks for posting. What shouts out is just how important hunting is for the optics industry..

It is important for the Conservation industry too. At least here in the USA.

Friends

Just a reminder that Bird Forum's rules seek to keep the main pages and sub-forums as more or less 'hunting-free' zones. It is recognised that hunting will be mentioned from time to time, such as in this news item, and also that we have many hunters among our members who bring a great deal of knowledge and experience of optics to our pages.

However if anyone wishes to discuss the ethics of hunting Bird Forum has created the Ruffled Feathers section where this and other issues can be addressed.
