Thistle or Bird Cherry? (1 Viewer)

david avis

Birding by name
The moth event I attended last weekend (that of the Large YU in ear) had some other highlights for me too. One was this little beauty which was confidently identified and recorded by the 'experts' as Thistle Ermine.
Well, I was just browsing through the stickys again and to me it looks like the one shown as 'Bird Cherry Ermine'. Am I right?

You're absolutely right. Thistle Ermine is much larger and the the four lines of dots is diagnostic for Bird Cherry Ermine Y.evonymella.

BTW, I'm no expert
