Gull - Sussex UK (1 Viewer)

Hi,

Can anyone give me some guidance re: the gull on the right end of this group? I noted at the time its white head, dark eye, slightly darker mantle and taller, upright posture - all good features for Caspian Gull.... But I also couldn't really see the expected bill-length and head shape, so I suspect it isn't one!

I would appreciate any guidance from gull experts out there...

If, as I suspect, it is a Herring Gull, then why is it so different from the others pictured? There are a few in the pic, but there were several dozen IRL, and the one noted really stood out.

Thanks... Ray
