Mystery bird (1 Viewer)

Apologies, I don't have a photo only a description.
My friend wants to know what this bird is that she's seen, however I cannot for the life of me think of what it is.
Her description:
A small round bird, slightly smaller than a robin, head is black and white with a black stripe across the eye, light brown body, black and white tail and yellow bits on the wings.
This bird was seen in England, Cornwall in a village a few days ago.
The picture she drew should be attached.
Thank you all!

The picture looks a pretty good likeness for a Goldfinch, but her description doesn't mention any red, which is odd as it's usually easy to see.

Edit, cross posted with Pyrtle - OK, what about Siskin?

Well, it doesn't appear to be something straightforward. So next logical step is to consider an escaped exotic or cagebird before thinking of a rare visitor. Perhaps a bit more information might be forthcoming - what was it doing, was it alone, is it still there? Good luck.
