Hi

There are two sections to the reserve. The flashes - which are salty and can be accessed via the Sailing Club car park. I prefer to park in the other carpark, first right after the Sailing Club if you come from the M5. This is where the Moors Pool is. The small concete hide traditionally has the best kingfisher sightings. We were not let down this morning amazing sight of two very close to the hide.
You can walk from there to the Flashes also

Hi

Sorry I do mean the Water Rail hide! I also had a good sighting whilst walking over to the Flashes. One was sat on a branch above the river in the small reserve.

Hope you have a good visit!

Lovely sighting!

I had great sightings of the kingfishers at the Water Rail hide on Monday, but was perhaps more pleased with this one! As I was walking through the nature reserve from the Moors to the Flashes I saw this little beauty over the stream. I assume a juvenile due to the white tip on the beak?

Amy's Marsh

If you are visiting the Moors we have now cleared the islands in front of the East hide which is Amy's Marsh. The area is now ready for the hoped for influx of passage birds and especially waders. Thanks to all 13 of the Tuesday work party crew who helped out yesterday...
Next week we will cut the west bank of Amy's Marsh
