We had a visiting Birder stay at the Birder's Cottage over the weekend and I took him out on Saturday to see what we could find. He had spent the last few days at Lamington so we avoided Rainforest. We still managed an impressive list of just shy of 150 species. He also managed some good mammals on a spotlingthing wander around the block (Fawn-footed Mely, Sugar Glider, Grey-headed Flyingfox)

We started around the cottage with 3 cuckoos, 8 honeyeaters, sitella, and Owlet-nightjar at his hole; White-headed Pig, Grey Goshawk and White-eared Monarch in Dayboro; Square-tailed Kite, Hobby and good tern variety numbers on Lake Samsonvale, Wandering Whistling Duck at the Dam, Koala at Beeville Scout Den; Plumed Whistling Duck and Brolga near Toorbul, Mangrove Honey-eater, Mangrove Gery and good wader numbers at the Toorbul roost and large numbers of Musk Lorikeets and Bush Thick-knee around the Ferny Grove Train station.

Cheers,

Roger
