Ive watched Sparrowhawks for over 30 years and every so often I see an exceptionally large female so large and impressive it makes you think its a Goshawk. Most of the large Sparrowhawks I see are in Urban or greenbelt areas. My believe is that possibly natural selection is allowing females in particular to get larger thus enabling them to subdue larger Urban pray such as Pigeon,Jackdaw,Collard Dove ect without getting injured or feather damage as this type of pray is comon and numerous compared to the normal pray such as Tits Starlings and Sparrows who's populations are under stress.Just wondering if any scientific dater was available to contribute to this hypothesis
