does anyone know how far south the range of the Chilterns red kites stretches ?

i saw one about a week ago near Romsey's Fishlake Meadows nature reserve, and wondered whether this is a migrant, an interloper from the continent or part of the Chiltern population's range ?

not totally surprised, I had after all seen them along the A34, but hadn’t seen any on previous visits to the reserve (although admittedly these visits have been limited in number)

If they weren't so classy I'd have to call them a dirt bird round Farnborough, they spread here from the Chilterns via Reading some years ago. Not surprised they are increasing in South Hampshire now.

It's probably not the best time to think about this! But I can't recall seeing many in the New forest /coast. I might revisit this tomorrow!

Fairly consistent on longish watches at Acres Down, often away to the North, scope only. Possibly roaming the edge of the Forest rather than in it.
