Illadopsis or Forest Robin - 6/24/2017 - Mabira Central Forest Reserve, Uganda (1 Viewer)

Hello,

This bird stumped two local guides. They debated over the possibility of scaly breasted illadopsis or Eastern forest robin in transition. I only got these two photos.

Can anyone do better than our two guides at positively identifying this bird?

Thanks a ton to anyone who can figure this bird out!

Scott

It's a brown chested alethe, the white spot on forest robin is not as extensive, and Illadopsis is a very different beast indeed. Cheers.

Thanks for the help Daniel on this and so many other threads! I'm surprised two birding guides had this so wrong. But, at least they both admitted they were not sure.
