Most probably many of you heard about the Red List. For birds it is going to be revised in 2007 by IUCN. Based on extensive circulation of materials two species facing changes in their status.

Red-breasted Goose: uplist to Endangered based on recent declines
Egyptian Vulture: uplist to Endangered based on decleins throughout range, especially in Indian Subcontinent

I'm not sure if you have ever seen a single Red-breasted Goose but believe me this is one of the most beautiful waterfowl of the world. We have to do everything to save them!

Don't you worry, Red List criteria have surprisisngly little to do with real danger of extinction.

If you are worried about Red-breasted Goose, it is on the Red List mostly because it recently concentrates in a few big flocks in Romania.

Red List says that if the bird is concentrated, it is in danger (perhaps epidemic, nuclear accident etc.) You can help by shooting geese so they disperse into more smaller flocks and go out of Red List criteria. ;)
