Hi Penny- Ron Seymour here in Bulgaria. You probably don't remember me. I have recently enrolled with BirdForum with the aim of finding birders in Bulgaria, preferably near Veliko Tarnovo, who I can team up with and expand my knowledge of the avifauna of this fantastic country. I am currently living in a rural village called Samovodene and have been amazed at the sightings that I have had here. My garden list includes Grey-headed Woodpecker, Golden Oriole (breeding), Hoopoe, Nightingale, Red-backed Shrike, Hawfinch, Lesser Whitethroat, Black Redstart, Tree Sparrow and many more. Overhead I have seen White and Black Storks, Long-legged and Common Buzzards and Ravens. I make every effort to tap into the Norfolk bird news and I really love your blog. Thank you for the effort that you put into this very comprehensive roundup of what's about in Norfolk. I was sorry to learn of your dad's passing - I never met him but Peter and Margaret Clarke's book was always by my side if I wanted to target specific birds.
Give my best wishes to Eddie M, Steve G, Julian B, John ?, Andy Stoddard and anybody who vaguely remembers me.
Best wishes Penny
Ron Seymour
